Beginning July 2025, users can download the new ProQuest Ebook Central Reader App to check out and read ebooks offline. The new app is a companion to the Ebook Central platform, replacing Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) for full-book downloads.
The Ebook Central Reader App is available to download on the following platforms, as a desktop app on Windows or MacOS as well as via iOS or Android devices:
- Windows (Minimum OS version: Windows 10)
- MacOS (Minimum OS version: macOS 10.15)
- iOS (Minimum OS version: iOS 14)
- Android (Minimum OS version: Android 13)
To begin using the Ebook Central Reader App for the first time, you must be logged into Ebook Central. Once you are on the platform and navigate to a book of your choice, you must select the Download Book option. You will be prompted to open the book before downloading.
From there, you will be prompted to select the desired length of the loan (1 day, 7 days, 14 days, or 21 days, where applicable). Once you have chosen your desired loan length, click Confirm.
The following screen will display the title of the book and loan expiration date and time. (The Ebook Central Reader App can be used across 6 total devices which can be managed here: https://ebookcentral.proquest.com/lib/molloy/managedevice.action). When you are satisfied with the information on this screen, click Continue.
If you have not downloaded the app, you will be prompted to do so on the next screen. Your code is unique and will be valid for 48 hours. Make sure to copy your code! When you have finished, click Download the App.
The following page will bring you to directions to download and install your Ebook Central App. The following platforms and operating systems are outlined on this page.
If you are downloading the App on a Windows device, the screen should appear as in the screenshot below. Have your unique code ready!
Once you have successfully submitted your login code, you will have access to your bookshelf and all books downloaded from Ebook Central.
You can download your book by clicking Download from your shelves. There are two views, box grid and list, that are shown below.
